Pos-ture: 1: a characteristic way of bearing one’s body; carriage. 2: relative placement or arrangement.
The body is a system that is constantly in motion. Proper posture aligns the body in a balanced position. Your personal postural alignment, or the way you hold your body, can influence the way you move. The old saying goes, “structure governs function”, and nowhere in the body is this more evident than in our skeletal alignment. Where you start (posture), effects the movement that follows. If you are starting movements from a suboptimal position, it forces your system to play catch up in order to get to the correct position, and to allow the proper forces to be generated.
